At the Fox, we pride ourselves on the range and quality of our cask beers. We have appeared in The Good Beer Guide since 2007 and regularly achieve maximum marks on Cask Marque assessments.
There are five to choose from, usually with one from a small brewery, but our regular beers are:
West Berks Brewery Good Old Boy 4.0%
A good balance of malt and hops giving a full-bodied bitter with strong malt flavours, yet retaining a rounded bitterness and a strong hop finish.
Sharp's Doom Bar 4.0%
The aroma of Doom Bar combines an accomplished balance of spicy resinous hop, inviting sweet malt and delicate roasted notes. The mouth feel is a perfectly balanced and complex blend of succulent dried fruit, lightly roasted malty notes and a subtle yet assertive bitterness. The bitterness remains into the finish with dry fruity notes which implore the drinker to go back for more.
Young's Special 4.0%
A classic bitter that has gained cult status among cask ale drinkers. Amber in colour, Young's Special has a fruity, slightly estery nose with a good hop aroma and full round flavour, a fine balance between malt and hops.
100% malt brew: Maris Otter and crystal malt together with Fuggle and Golding hops.
Note from the Head Brewer: 'A real mouthful of flavour - savour what being Special is all about.'
Ringwood Best Bitter 3.8%
The perfect supping beer! The first beer brewed by Ringwood Brewery and still the New Forest's favourite tipple. Best Bitter was awarded Bronze Medal at the Munich Beer Festival in 2005.
